The local trio Surf Hat will kick off the night with a lengthy set of their own brand of psychedelic rock.

Mountain Grass Unit brings their bluegrass to the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater on Thursday, June 4th, 2026. Doors: 5:30PM | Show: 6:30PM. Part of the celebrated Mountains of Music series celebrating the GoPro Mountain Games with a concert start with a set by Surf Hat, followed by the MGU’s signature blend of energetic, heartfelt, and hard-driving original and cover tunes written and played by bluegrass devotees for bluegrass devotees.
This high energy quartet from Birmingham, AL is leading the new progressive bluegrass movement. Their original music blends traditional bluegrass with the sounds of the jam band scene. Favorites such as "Where I Land", "Shoot the Gun", "Boxcar", "Shays' Rebellion", and "Cicada Song".
In 2025 the band was awarded the IBMA Momentum Award. This roots driven all instrumental supergroup of friends was first assembled in 2016 by three childhood friends Drury Anderson, Luke Black and Sam Wilson with newest recruit on board.
Starting off the show featuring members of Squamish’s own psych-surf outfit Surf Hat. Playing songs like “Stay For A While”, “Bowling Alley Thug”, “Diane”, “Jester”, and “Tah Frus”, their latest release “Surf Hat on Audiotree Live” (EP, 2026) does an impressive job of capturing the energy of their live shows.
A band that formed in 2022, Surf Hat already have three full length albums under their belt drawing inspiration from bands like The Tragically Hip, as well as The Black Keys.

The venue includes a covered pavilion that seats 1265 guests in 4 separate seating sections each that are 17 rows deep. In addition to the pavilion seating there is room on the outdoor terraced lawn to accommodate an additional 1300 people.
